Why a complet guided and escortet tour?

Completely fully and escortet guided Tours, our "Peace of Mind cycling" service.......with recreation and fun guaranteed © CJPhoto fotolia.com There are different reasons for a person to experience a completely guided and escorted bicycle tour. The first reason is that it is filled with fun and you experience a group of guests that can speak your language. And what could be better but to share the fun of a bicycle tour and the culture along the way with other people? Our tours are very special and personal and we have between 3 and 6 guided group tours during the year. We personally guide and escort these tours. We want to show our guests the many little things along the way. These guided tours are personal tours with a special touch.

The second reason for a guided tour is that our guests are accompanied by a support van. If you are tired or unable to finish the day's ride, the support van can pick you up and transfer you to the next city of if you wish the van can take you directly to the next hotel. The support van also carries extra water, juice. fruits, snacks and energy bars for our guests along the way. Lunch is also included with our tours and each day the lunch is a little different with special food from the region in which we are riding with our bikes.

When you travel on a bicycle tour with Tour de Spokes it is necessary to know that you are a part of a group. It is important that everyone acts as a part of the group and that all participants respect each other, respect the environment and also respect the culture of the country in which the bicycle tour is taking place. These are the basic rules for a successful journey.
We wil experience many places that are out of the tourist mainstream. We will be riding through beautiful small villages, therefore it is important to respect the native speaking people and their plants and surrounding landscape..i.e. the vineyards, flowers, trees etc. Get ready for an experience of a lifetime. There is nothing quite like experiencing the culture and beauty of an area via the seat of a bike...AND...YOU WILL BECOME one with the cobblestones, dirt and paved bicycle paths!!!!

Your Travel Guides

Your safety and security is of the up most importance for your guides, therefore we have only highly qualified guides who are versed in the best local bicycle paths and who have had a solid experience in this region. Also for all of our bicycle tours we have selected guides that speak the language of the respective group.

Your tour guide and leader is the coordinator for all special requests, unexpected illnesses etc. The tour leader also has the flexibility to make small changes in the program sequence. The main tour guide will ride at the front of the group and the second tour guide will ride at the end of the group. If you become tired along the way, please let us know and our support van will pick you up and transfer you to the next meeting point or if you wish, the van will take you directly to the next hotel.

AND PLEASE REMEMBER....This bike tour is for relaxation and fun....it is not a race!

For your safety and the security of the group, please read carefully the following important information.

  • When you ride with Tour de Spokes you FULLY UNDERSTAND that you are riding at your own risk and will follow all the German and Austrian traffice regulations.
  • Please ride your bike on the far right hand side of the bike path as possible and remain in your lane.
  • Never ride too close to a sidewalk or a parked car. The sudden opening of a car door or a pedestrian that unexpectedly leaves the sidewalk will force you to swerve and perhaps provoke an accident.
  • According to German and Austrian traffic regulations, the driver of a car or truck must keep a distance of approximately 4 1/2 feet from a cyclist. That may be the "RULE" but it is not always true for all drivers. Be sure to watch out for all moving vehicles. This is an important detail to make sure that your remain safe along the way.
  • Be sure to follow the German and Austrian traffic regulations in order to avoid accidents. (The traffic regulations in Germany and Austria are the same as in the USA)
  • At all road crossings be sure to pay attention to the traffic that may be turning right.
If the group stops for a break, please leave the bike path immediately to the right. This leaves the bike path free for other cyclists to pass.
  • If you have to stop for a red light, please do not follow the group through the red light. The group will wait for you after the red light.
  • Do not be shy to use your bell or your voice.
  • Please wear your helmet.

Beverages, Snacks and Lunch

In the morning before we start the day, we will give you a beverage and some snacks for the day. This may include energy bars, fruits, nuts etc. If you need additional beverages or snacks during the day, we will be meeting our van every 1 1/2 hours or so and you can pick up whatever you might need at that time.

At noon we will have a fresh lunch bag for you. Each day it may be a little different. If you are a vegetarian, please let us know at the beginning of the tour. Also, if you do not drink alcohol please let us know, This information is important for our wine tastings experience along our way.

Luggage

Please place on all your luggage a luggage tag from Tour de Spokes. We will provide this tag at our orientation meeting. Also before we begin our tour, please let us know how many pieces of luggage that you need to have transported. Please bring your luggage each morning to the reception area of the hotel. We will let you know each evening the time that the bicycle tour will begin on the next day.

Tips for Guides, Waiters and Waitresses

Tipping is different between Europe and USA/Canada. A tip is not considered part of a person's wage in Europe. In Europe we tip for the extra "smile" and for the "extra good service". A tip for the good service or smile is between 10 and 15 % of the bill. This "rule of thumb" applies go all guides, waiters and waitresses.

Our wish for all of you is for a wonderful bike experience with Tour de Spokes. We hope that it will be filled with lots of fun and wonderful memories....and remember...to "smile in the rain" because behind the clouds, there will always be sunshine!
